Instructions for Collectible Design
2026
Delvis (Un)Limited Gallery’s ongoing research into contemporary living uses collectible design as a lens through which to question how we inhabit, experience and relate to the objects around us.
Instructions for Collectible Design expands this research beyond the functional dimension of objects, exploring the meanings, memories and associations they evoke. Rather than serving a purely practical purpose, collectible design can become a vehicle for symbolism, a catalyst for perception and imagination. Its value lies not only in what an object does, but in what it evokes, reveals and invites us to reconsider.
The exhibition takes the format of an instruction manual as a curatorial device. Not a manual explaining how to assemble or correctly use an object, but a series of prompts proposing different ways of encountering it. A sequence of intimate, curtained spaces unfold through different situations, each suggesting an action, a question, a memory or a shared experience. Some pieces engage the body through touch or rest, inviting us to become aware of how materials and surfaces affect our perception. Others explore the relationship between comfort and tension, asking what changes when we pause and allow the body to settle. Light and transparency shift what is visible and what remains concealed.
Across the works, familiar gestures and functions are disrupted, encouraging us to look closer and reconsider what an object can ask of us. The manual does not explain how to live with collectible design. It proposes different ways of relating to it.
