Metallica

2024

Metallica is an exhibition curated by Matteo Cibic that explores metal and its intrinsic qualities—ductility, malleability, reflection, and shine. Through the work of diverse and talented artists and designers, the show fosters new forms of dialogue and symbiosis, giving rise to unprecedented creative expressions.

A contemplation on material and its energy, translated into a contemporary aesthetic code that embraces both art and design.

In the exhibition, we introduced a new designer who has joined the Delvis ( ) Limited collection.

The piece on display, NUDO, is the synthesis of Derek Castiglioni’s design research. It marks a point of arrival, embodying a deep self-awareness symbolically expressed through concrete— a material that serves as a perfect medium for self-recognition.

Concrete allows for the creation of rigid, enduring forms that embrace a Brutalist aesthetic, revealing rather than concealing imperfections. NUDO is a versatile table enriched with metal inserts, representing the most visible aspects of one's personality—those that can shine brilliantly.

The artistic language of Metallica comes to life on the reflective surfaces of ES, created in plexiglass—a material chosen for its lightness and versatility.

This work stems from the research that Goldschmied & Chiari have been pursuing since 2012, drawing particular inspiration from their Untitled Portraits series of monochrome mirrors, first presented in New York in 2014.

With ES, the artists bring this exploration into the world of design for the first time, creating surfaces that are both functional and deeply evocative.
